Finding a good topic???

So I have been working on finding a good topic for my final project. I have a few in mind but it is a lot more difficult then I thought it would be to find good research on a topic. I have to admit that I haven't spent as much time as I wanted this weekend on this class but plan on working the next couple days very hard on this.

My 3 children have been at their dad's this week so my oldest and I have spent alot of time together. She is 13 and very active in basketball and volleyball and just hanging out with her friends. Heading out to get them in just a few. He lives in Manhattan, MT and I live about 90 miles away. We meet in Livington which is about 1 hour away. They have been gone for a week so very excited to see them.

  1. My wife is bipolar and so are three out of six of my daughters, I have firsthand experience with the condition.

My wife used to also have migraines which I believed would set off the mood swings, but somehow I fixed them with massage, TLC, and lessening the daily stress in her life. She is no longer afflicted with them. So there is hope for these people, it just takes time, patience, and education. I told her to try to remain calm, eat well, and to learn to recognize the early mood swing symptoms , with the idea that if you are aware of the warning signs for the approaching mood swing you might be able to control it a little bit better.

My wife led a very traumatic life prior to our marriage, physical abuse from her father and previous husbands. She was emotionally scarred, became an alcoholic, now clean and sober since 1977. She explains that her mind is in fast gear and the transmission between it and her body’s skips gears. She has a lot of time to think about stuff in just a moment while her mind is spinning at the much higher rate. This is true with most people but they are better equipped to handle it than she is. It becomes a distraction to her.

She is unable to run and can barely walk due to an injury to her right foot from a car accident. Her foot was crushed and they removed all the metatarsals, she only has cartilage in her foot, so her ability to exercise is limited. It’s too bad because I think that it would have helped her tremendously, it helps me to meditate when I run cross country. She seems to have improved tremendously despite this handicap but other conditions have come to the surface, a compulsive obsessive disorder, but in a mild and usually harmless manner.

Perhaps, it’s me who has changed, love as conquered, and I accept her as she is, oblivious to her bipolar behaviors, but I think that the observant scientist within me would more aware than that.

Good luck with your research paper, the mind is a mystery to us and most of the studies are often opinionated and based on circumstantial evidence, but it is a worthwhile effort to do everything that we can to help people afflicted with this very common condition.
